Compass Rose

The Compass Rose is a classic navigation symbol that shows the four cardinal directions - North, East, South and West - along with the intermediate points.

Mariners and explorers have relied on it for centuries to find their way at sea. It not only helps with orientation but also makes charts and compasses easier to read.

Sailor’s note: Early compass roses often used a fleur-de-lis to mark north, while east was sometimes indicated with a cross to point toward Jerusalem.
