Collection: Fairway

Fairway is the navigable part of a waterway, river or channel that’s deep and wide enough for safe passage of boats and ships. Marked by buoys, lights or beacons, fairways guide sailors through safe waters while avoiding shallow areas, rocks, and other hazards.

Sailor’s note: The term “fairway” comes from old maritime language, meaning a “safe or clear passage,” just like a fair path through a forest - but for boats.
